Orthodontic Friendly Foods

HARD & STICKY FOODS MAY HARM YOUR BRACES

HARD & STICKY FOODS may do damage by breaking off the brackets and tubes, bending wires, and loosening bands. Each breakage will add two months to the patients treatment time. So eat right and be careful, if you want your braces off quickly!

Do Not Eat:

  • Popcorn
  • Nuts
  • Ice
  • Hard candy
  • Taffy
  • Caramels
  • Bubble gum
  • Or any other hard or sticky foods

You may eat the following foods, but cut them into pieces and do not bite into them whole: Carrots, Apples, Celery, Corn, Pizza, Bread and Tortilla chips.

Remember!
Be Careful! A careful orthodontic patient can eat most foods without damaging their braces. If something becomes loose or broken for any reason, please call as soon as possible, so we can set aside enough time to give you the care that you require.

Last but not least....always brush after eating!
